Review:

Zesty lemon, bitter liqueur and tangy IPA makes for a zippy, refreshing drink. A characterful IPA and nailing exactly the right amount of honey are key to this drink's success.

History:

Originally made with Bacardi Carta Blanca, this was the Belarus Bacardí Legacy 2016 winning cocktail and was created by Lizaveta Molyavka at News Café in Minsk.

To create my cocktail, I first asked 'is there anything else' in terms of cocktail ingredients that haven't been used for a Bacardí cocktail, but are related to the Bacardi family? I discovered the wonderful story of Bacardi's own beer 'Hatuey.' In early Twentieth-Century Cuba, Bacardi would take ice from their lakes in North America and give their customers an ice block and six-pack of Hatuey beer, then the best-selling beer in Cuba. My cocktail celebrates this by marrying the first Cuban rum with the citrus, grapefruit peel and bitter notes of the IPA-style beer, balanced with bitter liqueur, honey syrup and lemon - easy and super-tasty!

Although I see a lot of positive comments I personally did not enjoy this one at all!

But hey try it for yourself and then judge it, "les gouts et les couleurs on ne discute pas"...

Onward to the next discovery on this amazing site :)

Used Plantation Pineapple rum and Founders All Day Haze (4.9% session, plenty of tropical citrus flavors). Not just the best beer cocktail I've had, one of the best refreshing drinks I've ever had outright. Summer can't come soon enough!

I made some substitution of a few ingredients with what I had at hand: anejo rum instead of white, lime instead of lemon, and a Session Tangerin IPA instead of a plain IPA. Result was excellent!

This is an interesting drink, but like the Doctor Pepper I just commented on, the Yards IPA didn't quite work in here (too nutty, woody, piney). Naturally, more citrusy IPA would be better. Was going to instead try Victory Hop Devil (basically a strong Irish red ale with grapefruity hops). Regretting the choice/purchase, haha! At least the Yards is great on its own.

This is the case with all Bacardi Legacy cocktails as I had hardwire Bacardi as the rum to ensure a Bacardi cocktail displayed as using Bacardi. When we have some development time it is one of numerous things I'd like to fix.

Just a heads up: I've noticed that for some reason Bacardi shows up in red with this cocktail, as if it's a missing ingredients. I do have it in my ingredients though. Not just a light rum but the exact Bacardi Carta Blanca even. I've noticed this at some other cocktails as well.

This is just too good. The honey and rum provide a warm smoothness on the back palate, and you can't go wrong with Campari, citrus, and grapefruit hops. Perfect beer cocktail.

Very nice. I had doubts about the ale in it, but there’s so little that it you don’t get the carbonation, and the very hoppy Christmas ale I used added a pleasant hop nose and bitterness that complimented the Campari.
