History:

Adapted from a recipe created by Alissa Gabriel at Manhattan Line in Brisbane. This was the Australian Bacardí Legacy 2015 winning cocktail. Alissa says, "The history of Bacardí is famous, but very few have heard the story of Jose Leon Bouteiller and his contributions to Bacardí. The Bouteiller cocktail flavors work hand in hand, just like Bacardí and Jose Leon."

Just to flag a potential bug—I realise this was a Bacardi competition winner, but not sure the Carta Oro is meant to be in the site as a discreet category all its own. Clicking through gets us to the light gold 1–3-year column still rum category (and Havana 3 which I actually have!) but in the 'personalise' field for this recipe page only the Bacardi is allowed. Could be deliberate, just saying in case it's not.

Hi Toby, Yes, it’s deliberate. Bacardi supplied the images of these Legacy Competition cocktails, so we feel obliged to include Bacardi Rum in the recipe. We are gradually re-photographing these Legacy Competition cocktails to properly integrate them into our proprietary database. Please bear with us.

Well this certainly was not what I was expecting. The flavours blend together so well no specific flavour is prominent. There is a slight smoky after taste, but not overwhelming. Very, very enjoyable especially as an aperitif.
