Ingredients
1 inch Cucumber (fresh) (chopped)
1 slice Red chili pepper (jalapeño/fresno chili 10,000 SHU) deseeded
1 1/2 fl oz Blanco tequila
3/4 fl oz Cointreau L'Unique triple sec liqueur
3/4 fl oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
1/6 fl oz Agave syrup (agave nectar)
3 drop Saline solution (20g sea salt to 80g water) or merest pinch of s

Serve in an Old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. RIM glass with Tajín seasoning (moisten outside edge with lime or orange juice and drip into Tajín).
  3. Prepare garnish of cucumber slices.

Method

  1. MUDDLE cucumber and chili in base of shaker.
  2. Add other ingredients and SHAKE with ice.
  3. FINE STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

  1. Garnish with cucumber slices.

Review

Your chili, how thick your slice, and whether you remove the seeds, will all impact how spicy your Cucumber Martini is. I like mine, seeds-in spicy. The first few sips may be too much, but once you acclimatise, the chili heat becomes alluring.

This summer I have done many different kinds of margaritas and this one hit the Top3 at the first trial. I love the depth and freshness of cucumber combined with taste of jalapeno. I might add a little bit bigger slice of jalopeno next time. And perhaps some mezcal too...
