Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
1 14 oz Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. cognac
34 oz Cointreau triple sec liqueur
34 oz Dubonnet/French rouge aromatised wine
12 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History:

Until I revisited the Crux on 23rd February 2023, our recipe followed the original equal parts proportions with:
30ml (1oz) Cognac
30ml (1oz) Triple sec
30ml (1oz) Dubonnet Red
30ml (1oz) Lemon juice

This was on my must try list and am enjoying this right now. Surprised at the rather low rating. I used a lemon twist by mistake, don’t tell the boss.

Hi Nathalie. I've just revisited the above and moved from being equal parts. Hopefully, now better? And a lemon zest looks better due to the contrast in colour to the cocktail. Perhaps express orange zest and discard, then garnish with lemon.

Definitely a different taste, I think it's the triple sec that is the savior of this drink. Make sure you squeeze your orange zest over the drink, the oils help with the flavor immensely.
