Pronounced 'Sal-Err' (the last 's' is not pronounced), this bright yellow and bittersweet liqueur is named after the small town of Salers, famous for the cultivation of gentian (with which this product is flavoured).

In Europe, this 16% alc./vol. version of Salers has a yellow label and screw cap, but in America, it has different packaging with a red cap. This 16% alc./vol. version is identical to 20% Salers (which in Europe has a red cap) but with less alcohol.

Created by Alfred Labounoux in 1885, Salers Gentian liqueur is the oldest gentian liqueur from the Massif Central highland region in south-central France.

The recipe is made from gentian roots grown using sustainable agriculture in the mountainous Auvergne region. After maceration and distillation, the blend is matured in oak casks for several years.
