OVD is an abbreviation of Old Vatted Demerara. This dark demerara rum was originally blended in Montrose, Scotland, by George Morton Ltd (a brandy and whisky blending and bottling firm established in 1838 by the first George Morton).

Today this blend of rums from various countries is owned and vatted by William Grant & Sons. OVD is is one of Scotland's best-selling dark rums.

Appearance:

Clear, mahogany-red with deep bronze highlights.

Aroma:

Treacle and tart-tatin with prunes, stewed fruit, toffee caramel, pastry dough, light clove and cinnamon spice.

Taste:

Caramel-heavy, sweet and yet slightly bitter, toffee palate with clove, prune juice, berry fruit, sultana, woody fudge, toffee apple and spiced oak.

Aftertaste:

Dry, woody charcoal wood with cinnamon spice, prune, berry fruit and burnt toffee.
