Launched early in 2013 as 'Langley's No. 8 Distilled London Gin', this London dry gin is distilled in Connie, a 4,000 litre John Dore copper pot still at the Langley Distillery with eight botanicals.
Made using the multi-shot method, the still is charged with neutral alcohol (96% alc./vol.) and water to reduce the strength to 65% alc./vol..
Eight botanicals are used:
- Juniper berries
- Coriander seeds
- Angelica root
- Orange peel
- Lemon peel
- Cassia bark
- Ground nutmeg
- Ground Cloves
The botanicals are added to the charged still and the still is then heated to aid infusion of the ingredients and then this left to steep for several hours (sometimes overnight).
The still is then heated with the charge and botanicals and the pressure on the still slowly increased. Once the desired pressure is achieved the distillate starts to flow through the condenser and the heart of the distillate (the gin) is separated from the heads and tails which are sent to rectification stills for re-use in other processes within the distillery.
The heart distillate is drawn off at a strength of between 77% - 83% alc./vol. After being rested overnight this is transferred to stainless steel food-grade drums (205 litre) for transportation to the blending/bottling plant at Hayman Ltd.
At the bottling plant, the distillate is blended with neutral alcohol and local water to reduce the gin to the bottling strength of 41.7% alc./vol..

Crystal clear.
Juniper rich with fragrant pine, lavender, lemon zest, coriander and sage with light violet and celery-like aromas. Faint musky soapy note – perhaps orris root.
Dry and juniper forward with distinctive sage and parma violet notes. Pleasingly spicy with strong liquorice and delicate citrus notes.
Liquorice and cracked black pepper lingers in the long finish.
A dry and heavy gin rather than light and citrusy.
