I really liked this! Taste dominated by the sweetened tequila, with just some toasty black tea as a backdrop. The bright notes of the sweetened tequila here reminded me of mint tea - it was really nice! In answer to ? below - about 5 - 5.5 oz (150-160 ml) of tea (you are trying to top up a toddy that holds just over 8 oz, about 240 ml).

Whoa, that was interesting. Something about this reminds me of the barley tea served at some East Asian restaurants... I subbed 10 ml agave for the 15 ml of rich simple. Initially tested a 1:1 tea to tequila. Then added another 15 ml of tea (better) then another 15 ml (best) to settle on a 2:1 tea to tequila... The lime doesn't seem necessary, but if you add it, might want to add a drop of two of saline?... Definitely will try this again. Strange and beautiful.
