Review

While most of the numerous upscale hotels on Miami Beach struggle when it comes to their bars with mediocre drinks seemingly served as standard, The Gale Hotel boasts not one but two great cocktail bars. This one nestles at the back of the property in the Regent side of this Siamese twin of a hotel and is the more reserved and classic of the two.

Dark wood panelled walls, a marble topped bar and cross-shaped sofa sits, something of a statement, in the centre of the room. There's also a patio for smokers. The sound system playing 30s ballads and jazz sets a laidback but conservative vibe.

The cocktails here also tend towards the classic with a short six strong daily changing drinks menu offering the likes of Old Pal, Rum Old Fashioned and Champagne Cocktail. The wine offering is also limited but the spirits line-up is impressive, as is the quality of all the drinks and service.

The very nature of this place tends towards the late night crowd and early evening it might seem somewhat deserted but as the hours pass so the discerning crowd arrives to enjoy one of the best cocktail bars South Beach.
