Review

Set on the ground floor of a listed Georgian building on bustling George Street, Tigerlily has established itself as the favourite place for Edinburgh's wealthiest and most glamorous to eat, drink and make merry.

Upstairs lies one of Edinburgh?s newest and most fashionable boutique hotels and while below the same operators (Montpelier Group) have Lulu's nightclub. So under the one roof you can eat, drink, party and then sleep. You might never see anything else of Edinburgh.

The creamy white interior houses two bars surrounded by lipstick red barstools, while plentiful, plush banquette seating rests against metal beaded curtains. A tiny courtyard, more a cupboard without a ceiling, allows nicotine addicts to elude the ban.

While the wine list offers some great bins, everybody here seems to prefer champagne or those staggeringly good cocktails. Enlightened drinkers will find nirvana at what I still refer to as 'the House of the Flying Daiquiri'.
