Review

This ground floor bar and upstairs restaurant is London’s third Nobu and one has the feeling that even if they outnumbered McDonald’s they’d all be busy. The draw is of course the faultlessly good sushi, sashimi, tempura and famed black cod in miso. The bar is pretty much guaranteed custom as trendy upscale restaurant patrons wait for a table or stop off for an after dinner drink. However, it has also become a destination in its own right.

The interior is so modern that it wouldn’t seem out of place in Star Trek or Star Wars. The almost circular room is dominated by the bar, which is backed by whitened tree branches spouting out over black tiles.

Able bartenders construct tasty cocktails. There’s a serious champagne list, ten sakes and eleven wines by the glass, while the choice of four beers includes Asahi Black and the wonderfully creamy and hoppy house beer, Nobu Special Reserve.
