Review

Named after the postal code in which it resides, 1105 is what in American might be described as an 'ultra lounge', basically a micro nightclub with a disproportionately large DJ booth yet no dance floor. As is typical of the genre, 1105 attracts a good looking, well-dressed crowd who come here to see and be seen.

The island bar stretches deep into the long narrow room like a catwalk, surrounded by fashionistas watching the centre stage white coat, black shirt and bow tie clad bartenders. The 'it' crowd who flock here obviously love the vibe and I have to say that we did too.

The bartenders with their slick uniforms and Japanese bar kit certainly look the part but we've not been overly impressed by cocktails here which tend towards the sour side. The drinks menu is also a tad pretentious, for example the 'Sénor Hansi' carries the following description, "A confused Mexican walks into a bar looking for passion. She leaves again in the arms of a German. It was a match made in heaven".

If you're seeking 'the scene' 1105 is certainly an address we'd recommend.
