Review

No quiz nights. No fruit machines. And no rowdiness. Just great ale, food, low ceilings and a virtual warmth that practically envelops you as soon as you walk in the door. I defy you not to fall in love with this characterful Victorian corner boozer close to Brighton's North Lanes.

Old cigarette and biscuit tins cover the walls and inside each are short notes and poems left by regulars. Race badges strung from the dimple mugs hanging over the bar tell of a landlord?s love of the races.

A couple of Fuller's and Gales ales are joined by two guest ales and the friendly staff will encourage you to try samples before choosing your pint. Whisky lovers are also well served with over seventy different malts to choose from.

The windows of the Basketmaker's proudly display numerous reviews and awards for its food and lunch and a pint here is highly recommended.
