Oak Smoked was the first flavour released by Chase in 2010 and from the start this artisanal potato vodka seemed to suit being smoked. The fourth batch saw the introduction of a new Herefordshire smoke house able to guarantee the local origin of the oak used. Distilled and hand-bottled on the farm.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 25/10/2020

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Smouldering oak fire in a small room with smoky bacon reminiscent of Frazzles (bacon-flavoured corn-based snacks).

Taste:

Smoked streaky bacon with oaky dryness, but not overpoweringly smoky. Lightly spiced with freshly grated black pepper.

Aftertaste:

Lingering slightly salty, bacon, savoury finish.

Overall:

I was lucky enough to sample the first-ever batch of this smoked vodka. That first batch was great but over the years it has only improved. Smoky but delicately so with a pleasing complexity.
