Brora is now extremely rare and this 30 year old cask strength limited edition of 2,958 individually numbered bottles is the 8th of a very limited series of annual releases and due to irreplaceable depleted stocks is likely to be the last. It is vatted from a mixture of American oak refill casks.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 06/12/2010

Appearance:

Full gold in appearance with a nose of Chai tea/tea chest and aromas of smoke, iodine, salty butter, chocolate and quinine.

Aroma:

The addition of water brings out waxy salty seaweed notes.

Taste:

The palate (reduced to approx 40% abv) is lightly salted and smoked. Superbly balanced and rounded with a slightly oily mouth feel.

Aftertaste:

The finish is lightly nutty and smoky.
