Based on neutral spirits made from corn sourced only from Ontario, this proudly Canadian "contemporary gin" is flavoured by six botanicals, each individually steam distilled, blended and then reduced to its 46% alc./vol. bottling strength with natural spring water from Quebec.
Romeo Gin's six botanicals
- Juniper berries
- Cucumber
- Dill
- Lavender
- Almond
- Lemon
Sampled on 22/03/2021
Crystal clear.
Along with pine forest, there's freshly cut juicy cucumber and fragrant verdant dill.
Cucumber is so pronounced on entry that Romeo's could pass as a "cucumber-flavoured gin," but piney juniper, blanched almond and fresh dill appear as the palate unfolds.
Cucumber, piney juniper, dill, and faint floral lavender.
Traditional/old-school gin lovers are warned, this is a "contemporary gin" with the juniper dialled back and fresh cucumber arguably the most dominant botanical. However, if that's the kind of "gin" you're after then Romeo's is a good example of what's become known as the New Western Style.
