Ingredients:
1 12 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin
23 oz Kwai Feh lychee liqueur
23 oz Pink grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Strucchi Bianco Vermouth
3 drop Saline solution 4:1 (20g sea salt to 80g water)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of grapefruit zest twist &/or skewered lychee.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.
  6. Optionally, garnish with skewered lychee.

Keeping in mind Difford's review of "sour, tart", I think its nicely balanced. I did use a sweeter, berry-infused gin the second time, and that helped.

We're just enjoying one of these now, and have to disagree somewhat with the previous comments, we think it's an appealing combination. We're using Marie Brizard lychee liqueur, and it stands up to the grapefruit very well but we did use supermarket pink grapefruit juice. My gin choice was poor, we used Edinburgh cannonball which is too strong and lingers on the palate after the fruit has gone. However, as long as you think of it as a sort-of lychee gin martini, I think it's worth trying.....

Totally agreed with Miriam's opinion.. i also tried with 1 and 2 spoons of grapefruit syrup.. but it worse. the balance of the bitterness is hard to adjust.

Unfortunately, the gin and pink grapefruit juice make a very bitter combination - too much for my taste. Lychee liquor is very subtle and cannot balance the bitterness out.
