Adapted from a recipe created by Harry Craddock on 28th February 1922 to celebrate the wedding of H.R.H. Princess Mary, and published in his 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book where he calls for this cocktail to be shaken rather than stirred.

Created by Harry Craddock on February 28, 1922, to mark the wedding celebrations of H.R.H. Princess Mary.
Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood (25 April 1897 – 28 March 1965), was the only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary; sister of Kings Edward VIII and George VI: and aunt of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. She married Henry Lascelles, Viscount Lascelles (later the 6th Earl of Harewood), in 1922 and was given the title of Princess Royal in 1932.
