¾ fl oz Suze Saveur d’Autrefois
¾ fl oz Noilly Prat Extra Dry
1/12 fl oz Sugar syrup (2 sugar to 1 water)
1 pinch Salt

How to make:

STIR all ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass (preferably over a chunk of block ice.

The subtly smoky notes of mezcal combine brilliantly with the aromatic bitter sweetness of gentian liqueur in this fabulously complex aperitif cocktail.


Adapted from a drink created in 2015 by Julio Xoxocotla at Ward III, New York City, USA. Julio’s original recipe omits the sugar syrup and calls for ¾ oz Dolin Blanc for the dry vermouth.
