Bristol's Victorian Lido dates back to 1849 and in recent years the outdoor heated pool has been fully refurbished and benefited from some not so Victorian additions, including this pool-side bar.

Floor to ceiling patio doors run along the long, narrow room and look onto the pool with the water's edge only a few meters away. Baby blue walls and a turquoise floor reflect the colours of the water while the rust coloured back bar helps make this feel a little beach hut-like.

This very unusual bar opens at 8am for breakfast, which is served till noon. Freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes from the in-house bakery are popular during the afternoon. However, come evening the tea gives way to an eclectic premium spirits selection, 15 wines by the glass and some interesting beers with Sagres served on draught.

For those interested in a swim, non-members may take a dip between 1pm and 4pm although members have priority on busy days. Swimming tickets cost £15 and annual memberships (allowing you to swim till 10pm) cost £450
