Review

This artsy space, over Shanghai Tang in Central, has an oddly Hong Kong Bohemian feel to it. That is to say, it's eclectic without being in the least down-at-heel, combining a ragbag of vintage furniture finds with acres of sheeny-shiny marble.

A challenging hybrid of art gallery (Ai Wei Wei has curated here), 2-Michelin-star restaurant and bar, Duddell's offers not only one of Hong Kong's nicest terraces - there's no height but plenty of pot plants and quirk - but cocktails courtesy of Belvedere's Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador Marek "Wo" Vojcarcik.

The bar ("salon") menu is as quirky and electic as the space, and the short cocktail list includes classics, twisted classics and own creations. A Jack Jazz Rabbit, a blend of carrot, green apple and bison vodka was clean, refreshing and positively healthful; the unnerving combination of quail egg, peanut butter and dark rum paid off perfectly in a Pirate's Breakfast, thanks to an unadvertised hit of sour.
