Review

Some porteños will tell you that Milión's best years are behind it, but that won't stop them from recommending it: the place is worth a visit for aesthetic reasons alone. A pleasant respite from busy Avenida Santa Fe, Milión can be found in a gorgeous converted mansion with a beautiful garden terrace.

There's a restaurant of some repute downstairs, but ascending a wide marble staircase will lead you to a gorgeous, palatial bar area. Despite the opulence of the space, the bar itself is unpretentious almost to a fault, with classic rock on the speakers and extremely relaxed service. Modern art adorns the walls and plenty of little nooks and side rooms give the space an illusion of intimacy. On nice evenings, a gorgeous outdoor patio fills up with couples on dates, local and foreign alike.

Milión definitely caters to more tourists than most of the bars on this list, especially due to its proximity to hotel hotspot Retiro. It's not the coolest place you'll go on your trip, but it might be the prettiest. And the drinks are large and delicious.
