Review

An oasis amid the tourist joints of Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, Skinny's is a textbook perfect little dive bar, owned and operated by bartenders with serious cocktail chops - and a sense of humour, too. From the pool table out front to the (eek!) karaoke room within, Skinny's has everything you need for a raucous night out, up to and including a 4am license most nights - which is late, damn late, for Singapore.

You might assume, between the strategically limited bar snack list, the distinctly petite cocktail menu, the plywood, graffiti and band T-shirt décor, not to mention the general air of moustachioed dissolution, that table service would be off the agenda here. In fact, it isn't, and a Penicillin ordered with some trepidation was mouthburning good, packed with the "fuck-off ginger" promised on the menu and enriched with glorious chunks of ice that endured a hot Singapore night.

That late license and excellent execution makes Skinny's understandably popular with Singapore's drinks industry mavens, who pop in here to get messy after their shift. We're sorry. We, of course, mean "for a nightcap".
