This bar is named after the former kitchen that now serves as a dedicated smoking room, complete with the kitchen units, utensils and appliances that the owners inherited from the former occupants of the site.

In case you were wondering, 'Kitjn' is not actually a direct translation of the Danish for kitchen, which is actually 'køkken', and in fact is bastardised from the English pronunciation of the word. Kitjn lies in a residential area, a 15-20 minute cab ride from the centre of Copenhagen, so attracts a mixed crowd of locals who appreciate the well-made cocktails served here. Besides the smoking room this small bar consists of two small bare plaster and exposed brickwork rooms, furnished with a mix of high stalls against leaning shelves and low slung seats for slouching.

The cocktail menu follows the kitchen theme with drinks arranged under headings of starters, main courses and desserts. We liked Sugar Ray's La Choca Nostra - basically an agave, chocolate Old Fashioned with hints of orange bitters. While there is no longer any food at this particular kitchen they do offer a three-course cocktail menu for DKK200.
