Review

The London Cocktail Club's third and latest venue sits at the top of Shaftesbury Avenue in yet another basement venue. This time the team have taken over a former wine bar, removed its dusty contents and given it a decent makeover involving moving the bar, knocking down walls and sticking up some expensive-looking wallpaper. The theme is Tiki bar meets tattoo-parlour, complete with neon parrot perched over the bar.

Rum obviously leads the list which declares, "Good cocktails ain't cheap and cheap cocktail [sic] ain't good" (we make typos too). The Bacon & Egg Martini with bacon-infused bourbon stands out but the House Grog served in a tin mug appears the best seller (a combination of four rums, port, sherry, gin and arrack).

Ladies, you'll find the enthusiastic "TV's JJ Goodman" in residence here, least he was when I visited, and drinks were up to their usual high standards. (As was the cheese plate and smoky pop-corn). However, other members of the CLASS team's visit fared less well but we are putting this down to opening nerves.
