Review

The eastern outpost of Richard Bigg's Camino tapas bar chain, this substantial bar and restaurant stands out due to its Thames-side location and large patio overlooking the river were the bank-to-bank ferry from the Hilton Hotel on the south bank docks. Camino offers tasty, if a tad mainstream tapas washed down by Spanish wine and beer, often accompanied by visiting DJs.

The bar to the left of the restaurant features some load decor and often an even loader atmosphere with pumping music competing with the party boats passing on the Thames. Weekday evenings Camino is filled with banking types from nearby Canary Wharf while at weekends you'll find passing day trippers walking the riverbank.

Alhambra Reserva and estrella Damm Inedit are the beers of choice. G&T counts as one of the ten simple crowd pleasing cocktails offered. The Margarita Rocks served with El Jimador tequila, lime and both Cointreau and agave syrup is balanced and tasty. Richard is passionate about Spanish food and wines and here both are well represented, and considering Camino lies in the shadow of Canary wharf, offer great value for money.
