In a previous pre-gastro pub age this triple gabled mock Tudor pad was The Ship Hotel and the original revolving oak door, which would not look out of pace on a grand hotel, now serves as the stylish entrance to this foodie pub.
The L-shaped contemporary interior is spacious with bar and dining areas clearly demarcated. The loungy bar area at the front has comfy leather Chesterfield armchairs and a well stocked back bar. The wine list features locally made sparkling wines from Ridgeview and over twenty wines by the glass. There is also a small but perfectly formed cocktail menu.
Sister to the acclaimed Gingerman Restaurant, the comfort food menu here is an important part of this pubs draw with owner, Ben McKellar, also the head chef. It is worth noting that the pub now takes bookings and you are advised to book well ahead for tables late in the week.
