Launched in March 2015 in global travel retail, Bombay Amber is based on the original Bombay Dry recipe with additional black cardamom, nutmeg and bitter orange imparted by vapour infusion distillation. The distillate is finished in French vermouth (we presume Noilly Prat) casks prior to bottling.

Clear, straw yellow.
Pungent black cardamom and nutmeg with buttery oak, oxidised wine, cinnamon and burnt citrus zest.
Piney juniper fights with black cardamom and nutmeg for attention with cinnamon (cassia), sage (coriander seeds), liquorice, black pepper and dry oak.
Cinnamon, nutmeg, black cardamom and black spice with lingering piney juniper and rooty liquorice. Overall: The ‘London dry gin’ statement on the screen printed bottle is sure to mislead many who might find Amber a tad too spicy. I love the idea of finishing in what we presume are ex-Noilly Prat casks, but feel the delicate wine notes imparted have been overwhelmed by excessive spice.
