Review and Tasting

Sampled on 01/02/2016

Appearance

Hazy, honeyed golden amber.

Aroma

Herbal and delicately spiced. Camomile, bog myrtle, wormwood and complex herbal aromas, cinnamon and white pepper with menthol freshness.

Taste

Dry, bitter, intense and invigorating with very light underlying honeyed sweetness. Camomile and tea tannins with gentian and calamus bitterness.

Aftertaste

Lingering wormwood bitterness with floral camomile.

Overall

As the name suggest this is a bitter liqueur but with a light honeyed sweetness bolstering camomile floral notes over tea-like tannins and rooty bitterness. A superbly complex digestive. Only a lack of filtration to clear and remove the risk of sedimentation disappoints.
