Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/02/2016

Appearance

(sample distilled 2011-2013 and bottled 2015) Clear, mid golden amber.

Aroma

Freshly cut pencil shavings, freshly baked rye bread with baked apple, fruitcake, cinnamon and black pepper spice.

Taste

A hefty whack of cinnamon and black pepper spiced exuberant oak camouflages rye bread, fruitcake and baked apple. Water softens and brings bready flavours to the forefront.

Aftertaste

Dry, cinnamon and black pepper spiced finish with lingering rye bread and faint burnt raisin.

Overall

Too young to be a “whisky” this precocious rye has a huge personality, exuding cinnamon and black pepper spice. However, this is tamed with a splash of water to reveal pleasing rye bread and fruity notes.
