This dry, amber coloured, fruity cocktail carries a pisco punch.
Drinks historian Dave Wondrich says that this cocktail was created for and named after the wealthy heir of a New York hardware company "who couldn't drink grain spirits and was bored with rum", hence the bartender used pisco, a grape spirit as the base.
