About

The 1800 Visionaries Cocktail Competition returns for its third year and invited UK bartenders to create a cocktail inspired by an iconic artist to be in with a chance of winning £2,000.

1800 was named after the year tequila was aged in oak barrels. 1800 Tequila celebrates this date: the moment when tequila first broke with conventions and did something differently to obtain a smoother and more characterful liquid.

1800 Tequila, a brand which celebrates creativity, is calling on UK bartenders to create a unique drink inspired by an iconic artist.

How it works

This year, UK bartenders were challenged to create a recipe inspired by an iconic artist from the worlds of art, style, design and music.

Entrants were asked to submit the following:

  • A brief overview of the cocktail, its flavour and ingredients
  •
  • A short paragraph explaining how the cocktail has been inspired by an iconic artist
  •
  • A photograph of the drink

All entries were reviewed by a panel of judges including last year's 1800 Visionaries champion Callum Baines, Proximo's tequila educator Oliver Pergl and our very own Simon Difford. The most impressive six entries were announced on Difford's Guide and invited to take part in the finals in London where they presented their cocktails to the judging panel and competed for first place.
