Words by:

Arkhi is an alcoholic beverage from Mongolia which is usually primitively distilled on domestic stoves from fermented mare's milk (known as kumis or koumis). Due to the primitive nature of distillation it is seldom much more than 10% alc./vol. and is rarely commercially sold.

In Mongolia, the milking season for horses traditionally runs between mid-June and early October so this period is the best time to attempt to find arkhi.
