The moment all bartenders, brand owners, cocktail aficionados and spirit enthousiasts have been looking forward to is upon us once again: Perfect Serve Barshow Amsterdam 2018 will take place for the fifth time in the Westerpark on 28 and 29 of May!
This year the event is bigger than ever. With over 120 brands participating, 26 seminars and 4 competitions on 1700 square meters.
Considering the activities there are certainly a few trends reflected within them:
-Sustainability continues to be pretty much the hottest topic, with Lucas Groglio from Argentina discussing his take. But also Paolo Moro from Hoshizaki dives into the sustainable take on ice.
Legend Dre Masso shares his own approach as well in his talk on the "conscious bartender."
-Low/no ABV spirits continues to be on the rise, with Negroni.nl presenting aperitivo drinks, a host of new soda's presenting themselves, as well as Seedlip catering to this growing group of people with interest in taking things lighter.
-talking about taking things lighter is the trend of Fun versus For-real. There is a growing gap between either taking things with a large pinch of salt or very very serious. On the fun side we see things such as the Monkey Shoulder Claw, Monkey 47's Max & Monty competition.
On the for-real side we see WSET continuing to fight the good fight of real taste & flavor versus empty buzz words and visuals. Matteo Zed will educate more on the category of amaro, and Avery Glasser will remind all how not to poison our patrons.
As usual, the fun doesn't stop with the event, with the returning Bartender Breakfast, guest shifts and afterparties including a Bartender Karaoke Championship on Tuesday.
There was never a better moment to visit Amsterdam and combine pleasure with business. Perhaps an idea to join the other 2,5 thousand people this year?
