On Monday July 23rd the Dutch Finals of Opihr's World Adventure competition were hosted at the amazing Rooftop Bar 'Het Dak' of Bleyenberg in The Hague.
Salvo (George Cocktailbar, Rotterdam) managed to beat the fierce competition and made mama proud with his Olifant.
Olifant is a stunning drink that showcased Opihr Oriental spiced gin's character and versatility. The cocktail surprised the judges in all its simplicity, balance and finesse.
The crystal clear drink was named after a famous ship of the Dutch East India Company that was sailing around the globe loaded with exotic spices in the 17th century: De (Witte) Olifant.
60 ml Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin
40 ml Home made Double, wet filtered and thus clarified apple juice
5 ml Luxardo Maraschino
Home made chamomile tincture
Fill a Coupette Glass with crushed ice and chamomile tincture. Pour Opihr, the apple juice and maraschino in a shaker filled with ice. Trow twice from tin to tin, just to chill the drink, not to dilute. Discard the crushed ice in the glass and strain the drink in the glass.
Serve with a oyster shell and a pearl next to the glass.
Salvo will battle at the Ophir World Adventure Global Finals in Istanbul on September 24th.
