On Monday the 3d of September, some of the Netherlands' best bartenders came together at House Bar in the Kimpton hotel Amsterdam to compete in The Teeling has Spoke'N cocktail competition.

In true Dutch fashion, the prize was a custom Teeling bike. The challenge?
To create an easy to recreate drink that captivates the flavour of Teeling Irish whisky, while being do-able for most bars and even at home.

When the dust settled, Tim Lefevre, bar manager of Door 74, emerged as the winner with his 'Training Wheels'. We talk to him about his inspiration for this drink, and of course, the recipe!

"Inspired by a bike ride through memory lane. Young bike rides to brown bars, where all the old ladies would drink port.
Slightly less young drunk bike ride after too many Aperol spritzers. Hungover bike rides looking for pineapple juice to regenerate.
It’s an easy twist on a Paper Plane with products that are available in every bar, no matter how fancy or “brown” they are. The fact that it’s equal parts, also makes it easier for everyone to make. You don’t even need a jigger, a shot glass will do."

Training Wheels

In a shaker pour all ingredients. Fill with ice cubes, and strain in a chilled
coupe-style glass.

22.5ml Teeling Single Cask
22.5ml Aperol
22.5ml Tawny Port
22.5ml fresh pineapple juice

Garnish with a pineapple leaf and a smile
