The Orbium Files: a series of eleven cocktails, especially created, developed and tailored by the best cocktail bars throughout The Netherlands.

Orbium, a reimagining of Hendrick’s Gin by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie is a limited quininated gin, based on the iconic Hendrick’s recipe of distillates from both the Carter Head- and Bennett-still with infusions of rose and cucumber. Orbium is then enriched with flavours that are traditionally associated with classic gin libations; quinine found in tonic (Gin & Tonic) and wormwood found in vermouth (Martini cocktail). The mysterious blue lotus flower adds an aromatic, floral sweetness and harmonizes all flavours of the gin.

Orbium is what Hendrick’s would taste like in a parallel universe. The eleven carefully selected cocktail bars are the only venues in Holland where Orbium will be poured and can be experienced, till the limited supply of 1000 bottles has dried out. First bar out of the ‘infamous eleven’ is House Bar in Amsterdam.

House Bar
House Bar is the cocktail bar of the Kimpton De Witt hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. The décor and ambience delivers exactly what you’re looking for in a hotel bar, and the same goes for the service. The cocktails will deliver more than you expected, credit to lead bartender Thomas Datema (and his team). The bar keeps updating its creativity and originality with special events, cocktail menus and collaborations with international cocktail bars.

Cocktail Inspiration
Datema: “The name eleven refers to the number of bars blessed to serve Orbium, and besides that, eleven is referred to as the magic number. Eleven is a winter cocktail, and the whole bar team immediately associated winter with the scent of pine needles. On top of that, we have chosen pine because it really brings out the aromas of juniper. The wood ageing of the Korenwijn strengthens the warm winter flavours of the drink, without interfering with the unique flavour profile of Orbium. We have also left out extra bitters in the drink, because Orbium by itself has such a nice bitter note. The drink is inspired by its unique and infinite core ingredient: Hendrick’s Orbium Gin. Eleven is a classic and elegant re-imagination of a martini. It’s a magical drink.”
