The Orbium Files: a series of eleven cocktails, especially created, developed and tailored by the best cocktail bars throughout The Netherlands.
Orbium, a reimagining of Hendrick’s Gin by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie is a limited quininated gin, based on the iconic Hendrick’s recipe of distillates from both the Carter Head- and Bennett-still with infusions of rose and cucumber. Orbium is then enriched with flavours that are traditionally associated with classic gin libations; quinine found in tonic (Gin & Tonic) and wormwood found in vermouth (Martini cocktail). The mysterious blue lotus flower adds an aromatic, floral sweetness and harmonizes all flavours of the gin.
Orbium is what Hendrick’s would taste like in a parallel universe. The eleven carefully selected cocktail bars are the only venues in Holland where Orbium will be poured and can be experienced, till the limited supply of 1000 bottles has dried out. The fifth bar of the Orbium Files is Dr., the notorious cocktail apothecary in Rotterdam.
The medical themed speakeasy opened its hidden doors in 2012 and has been leading the Rotterdam bar scene ever since. The bar is the brainchild of cocktail guru Arno van Eijmeren and has a true all-star bar team with bartenders like Chi-Ho Ta, Alberto Matallana, Helder Fortes Silva, Ben Lobos, Romario van der Stap and Jacopo di Domenico. Expect a night with the best of craft cocktails in a setting reminiscent of forgotten times, tailored and prescribed to cure whatever is wrong with you.

How do you take care of your body? What are the right seasonal ingredients to eat? Are you going on a holiday to catch some sun, or are you going towards the snow?
One of the winter getaways is like a trip to the Northern Lights. We have used this fact and used Scandinavian flavours and ingredients for inspiration. We use pine needles, lingon berries, caraway and dill. Fresh, fruity and herby, combining superbly with the green and floral notes of Orbium, and balancing out the bitter notes of quinine and wormwood.
40 ml Hendrick’s Orbium
15 ml Del Professore Quaglia Liquore Pino Mugo
25 ml fresh lemon juice
20 ml Lingonberry-Caraway Syrup
1 fresh egg white
Garnish: One drop of dill oil and a sprig of dill
Method: Pour all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice, then shake without ice (reverse dry shake), fine strain into a pre-chilled coupe glass.
