Teeling announces artist-bar collaboration
Words by Naomi Laurie & Timo Janse
Teeling Whiskey has announced that it has joined forces with Harald Vlugt, an Amsterdam-based visual artist, to create a custom Teeling Whiskey serve for Door 74, Amsterdam’s first speakeasy cocktail bar.
The collaboration arose when Teeling’s Dutch Brand Ambassador Naomi Laurie approached Vlugt to design a unique way to present Door 74’s Teeling Whiskey cocktail, named “Tailgate”.
The “Tailgate” cocktail is a celebration of Teeling’s flagship Small Batch Blend, Teeling’s bestselling bottling that has won over 30 international awards since its release back in 2013.
Vlugt created 20 pieces spotlighting Teeling flasks, which are used to present these specially crafted cocktails. Each piece is a hand numbered work of art.
Harald Vlugt, is an internationally recognized artist based in Amsterdam. While his work is primarily exhibited at shows in galleries and museums internationally, Vlugt has also done projects for major companies, including Carnival Cruises and Holland Amerika.
In 2018 he was commissioned to create a 25m bronze monument commemorating the 50th anniversary of NATO. He also created all of the sculptures and ornaments for the Queen hall of the Huis ten Bosch Palace in Nagasaki, Japan. His work is currently on display at the Amsterdam Museum.
Teeling’s collaborative special serve with Vlugt will be on exhibition at Door 74 until mid-March 2019.
