The Bacardi Legacy final 2019 is drawing nearer and nearer and with so many people inbound to the city of Amsterdam, we look at 6 of its top bars, bartenders and drinks.

The Jitterbug Saloon
When Boudewijn and Lydia of Tales & Spirits fame opened a new place (see previous article), there was a lot of anticipation. Those that thought they would copy their previous success formula where proven very wrong when the Jitterbug Saloon opened its doors.
This bar circles around a few key points, in which “relaxed” and “understated” seem to be two of. This is a late-night place with a lot of emphasis on live music and a neighborhood feel. The drinks vary from definite tongue in cheek - such as their Midori and banana signature the Jitterbug - and industry favorites such as the Hammer and Pickle.
The menu also features an entire section of Boilermakers with quite a number of interesting combinations, and one of Pickle backs as well.

The team consists of quite a few familiar faces, where it seems that being insanely amicable and fast are the key words. Led by Niels van Wouwe and flanked by among others Robert Negen & Sebastian Cichowlas the bar team has a combination of experience, stability and management skills.
This know-how also returns in their choice of drink for Bacardi Legacy Week.
Where all others went with signature drinks past and present, The Jitterbug puts its faith in perhaps the work-horse of all cocktail bars: The Mojito.
And what better way to end this circle of six top bars of Amsterdam, than the youngest of the six serving the oldest.
This brings us to the cocktail itself. You must have been living under a rock if you have never tasted one of these. However, with all things, the trick is in the details. As you will see, Jitterbug has a peculiar way of making the drink, enhancing the mint flavors, and adding a bit of flair -and fun - as well. Just like the bar itself.
In a shaker filled with ice cubes, add:
50 ml Bacardi Carta Blanca superior rum
12 mint leaves
7,5 ml fresh lime juice
7,5 ml fresh lemon juice
10 ml Mint syrup (2:1 syrup made from Dilmah Moroccan Mint tea)
Shake and fine strain in a highball glass filled with ice, , then finish with crushed ice &
Top up with London Essence Soda water.
Garnish with a mint sprig and an After Eight chocolate.
The Jitterbug Saloon is closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and open 5 days per week from 8 PM-3 AM and 4 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. For reservations you can reach them on the same day via Whatsapp, and you can always call to check availability to avoid disappointment on +31611091014.
