Grand Rue 32a,
Claude-Alain Bugnon, an oil industry man who was born near the Swiss town of Couvet where absinthe is thought to have first been produced, in 2000 started experimenting with illegal home production of absinthe after being given a 1935 recipe originally the formulation of Charlotte Vaucher by Charlotte’s nephew. As a result Bugnon created Clandestine La Bleue and in 2005 was the first distiller in the town of Couvet to start commercial production.
