Housed in a former boathouse dating from 1843 and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Severnshed lies on the waterside in the heart of the City's harbour area. The building's roof is a testament the great architects work and it is difficult not to ponder the beauty of the wood and steelwork above your head whilst sat at the bar.
Clever modern engineering at Sevenshed allows all six tonnes of stainless steel bar separating the drinking and dining areas to rotate and be moved back and forth along the length of the building. This movement is made effortless by a hovercraft-like bed of air pumped underneath through a hose connected to a nipple under the counter. Thus the bar area can be made bigger or smaller according to the space required in the restaurant.
Severnshed boasts a very serious spirits selection and the cocktails served here are amongst the best in the city (especially considering their price), while Mediterranean food is also served outside on the waterside terrace.
