A new addition to Jericho, and located opposite Raoul's, Bottega is a pared-down wine bar with rough hewn planks on the walls, eclectic furniture, simple decor that includes local artists' work and homemade wine bottle stores.

Despite its expertise as a wine bar, the list is small and good value - nothing high end, with the menu topping out by the bottle at £42 for sparkling wine, and everything is available by the glass except for a couple of bins. Every wine has a short and to-the-point tasting note.

Sit at old dining tables or upturned casks or in the more loungey room towards the rear. Locally made cheeses and charcuterie are prepared on large butchers' blocks. There's coffee available to. No frills, but we thought a well thought-out alternative to the area, with a down-to-earth and unpretentious atmosphere.
