From the same stable as Bermondsey Street's Village East, The Riding House Cafe occupies a previously a run-down canteen-style restaurant that's now decorated in a deconstructed industrial chic kind of way.

A huge bar dominates the main space, seating up to 15 on distressed leather stools, in front of a white tile-fronted bar with a top fashioned from old planks. Old theatre seating accompanies a scaffold-framed centre bench table, and elsewhere there is more comfy lounge seating in wood panelled areas and a separate dining area where you'll need to book. It's all very New York.

Classic cocktails such as Penicillin and Ramos Gin Fizz sit alongside imaginative twists and originals such as The Old Square (rye, cognac, vermouth, Benedictine & bitters), The Man on Margarita (Islay whisky, mescal, honey & vanilla), the Morning Glory Spritz (whisky, absinthe, egg white, lemon & soda) and the Quince Collins (Ketel One Citroen, quince liqueur, orange bitters, apple juice, lemon & soda). Beware, we've found some of the drinks a tad too sweet. There's also a small range of international bottled beers and ciders and a fair-sized wine list.

This place is just as much about food too - it's open for breakfast and brunch through to dinner. In particular there are a good number of tasty small plates such as ceviche, lamb cutlets, pork belly and baby squid.
