Somebody somewhere has attributed a day of the year to pretty much everything – for instance I'm writing this on Bikini Day (5th July) and I'm looking forward to Sugar Cookie Day (9th July) and then Cow Appreciation Day (10th July). But being "discerning drinkers", we're particularly interested in booze related celebratory days.

That said, on our Cocktail of The Day page we suggest a cocktail to appropriately toast each and every day of the year commemorating even the most whacky of celebratory days. It's a themed excuse for anybody (even cats) to drink and discover new cocktail recipes or rediscover well-known classics. However, when it comes to celebratory days, these are the key ones in our diary each year:

1st - Bloody Mary Day

25th - Burns Night and so Bobby Burns Cocktail Day

17th - St Patrick's Day (so by default also Irish whiskey & Stout Day)

19th - Amaretto Day

May

5th - Today is Cinco de Mayo and so tequila and mezcal day
7th - Cosmopolitan Day
13th - World Cocktail Day
16th - Mimosa Day
30th - Mint Julep Day

June

4th - National Cognac Day
1st Monday - Start of Negroni Week
2nd Saturday - World Gin Day
12th - International Cachaça Day
14th - Bourbon Day
