If you were to ask the Finnish bartending community who to ask if you’ve a question about drinks or bartending, Mikael would likely be the person they recommend. Mikael was supposed to become a professional guitar player but soon realized that in a country the size of Finland, making a living just plucking strings was going to be challenging. So he decided to get a job, and since his brother and good friend were already both bartending, he decided to give the profession a try.

Slowly he climbed up the ranks and in 2002 found himself in Finland’s leading bar at the time, the Torni American Bar. In 2004, Mikael joined the Finnish Bartender’s Guild and came out on top at the Active Member Test, which won him a ticket to IBA’s John Whyte Elite Bartenders’ Course in Czech Republic.

In 2007, he was recruited to Altia Academy which has been one of the most appreciated bar training courses in Finland since its birth in 2002. As a Facilitator in Altia Academy Mikael has among other things been responsible for the Cocktail Program at the official after party of the Nobel Prize Ceremonies in Stockholm for three years 2009-2011.
