Her first job in May of 2000 as a bartender convinced her she wanted to learn more about fine spirits and be in the service industry for the rest of her life. Except for a brief stint in Las Vegas when she graduated from UNLV Business School, she has worked in Houston for most of her life. As an Industry Professional, she helped open and manage multiple bars in the greater part of Houston. Most recently, her post as General Manager of Anvil Bar and Refuge prepared her opening future establishments, including The Pastry War, a Mez-caleria, and Julep, the Southern-focused bar that she describes as the culmination of her career which she owns and operates.

Huerta is a successful business owner who has been involved in hosting many seminars across the U.S. and Mexico describing Bar ownership, training, and leadership in the Bar Industry. Huerta has been named one of 10 rising star female mixologists by Food & Wine in 2015, as well as Imbibe magazine’s Bartender of the Year in 2014, Inducted into the Dames Hall of Fame at Tales of the Cocktail and named 50 Most Fascinating People by the Houston Chronicle in 2014.

Glass: Sling
Garnish: Pineapple wedge & cherry
Method: Shake all ingredients and strain into ice-filled glass.

• ½ oz Cherry Heering
• 1 oz Gin
• 1 oz Mezcal
• ½ oz Lime juice
• 2 oz Pineapple juice
• ¼ oz Bénédictine
• ¼ oz Cointreau
• ¼ oz Grenadine
• 1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
