The Cragganmore distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith and lies in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region on the banks of the river Spey. Smith was a distiller with previous at Glenfarclas, Macallan and Glenlivet so he knew what was required of a successful distillery and sited it close to the Craggan burn which provided a reliable source of water and also powered the distillery.

The site was also close to Ballindalloch station and with the laying of a short stretch of track Cragganmore became the first Scottish distillery with its own railway siding so easing transportation of supplies and finished whisky.

Cragganmore is part of Diageo’s Classic Malts of Scotland range but output is mostly used in the company’s Old Parr and White Horse blends.
