The Jake Walk references the gait that alcoholic poisoning gave to those who had drunk an infamous Jamaican Ginger 'tonic', contaminated with a neurotoxin which caused a partial paralysis of the legs, during Prohibition.

Today the alcohol served here is somewhat more refined. Ask for the spirits list and you are presented with a veritable Yellow Pages, containing pages of Scottish single malts, divided by area (Speyside, Islay etc), and plenty of other international whiskies, even Austrian. Flights are available across many brown spirits, offering a comparison of four different whiskies within different Scottish areas, as well as international whiskies, American whiskies, ryes, tequila and mezcal and brandy. There are wine flights too, as well as 50 available by the glass.

Candlelit, aproned staff stir or shake two cocktails at a time from a pre-Prohibition list, while chefs cook in near darkness to one side - the bar is mainly candlelit, and light is reflected by the large mirrored back bar. A list of up to 40 artisanal cheeses and cured meats, plus caviar and a signature fondue of the day will help guard against modern day wobbly legs.
