I'm doing it with Frangelico at my working place, the girls love it! Something else that I really like is to use a brandy instead of Vodka and Frangelico instead of Kalua and add a little bit of sugar... But this has became a totally different cocktail, I called it Espresso del Frate
Is there a specific reason why this (excellent) recipe calls for *hot* espresso coffee? One would think it makes sense to let the fresh espresso shot cool down first, to prevent unnecessary dilution. Or is it just for time-saving purposes?
The reason for using freshly made, so still hot, espresso is that crema froth on the coffee adds body to the cocktail. This cocktail works with cold expresso but not as well.
Effected by the quality of the coffee that you use. But, Simon's recipe is my favourite iteration of this drink - a wonderful pick me up to take you into the evening, and more tasty than an [*ish] coffee after a fine dinner - delicious!

Used kahlua. It was fine. Reduce your coffee shot water to approximate two ounces. It was sweet enough with no added sugar.
